Estimator (Houston)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented AV Project Estimator to join our team. As an AV Project Estimator, you will be responsible for providing accurate audio, video, lighting, and control system designs based on industry standards. You will collaborate with the Design and Sales teams to prepare comprehensive estimates, line drawings, rack details, and descriptive narratives for AV projects. Your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring successful project execution and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Create AV system designs, line drawings, rack details, and descriptive narratives and industry standards.
  • Work closely with the Sales team to gather necessary client or vendor clarifications to refine the estimates.
  • Utilize software tools, such as Visio, Excel, and Word, to generate detailed project estimates and documentation.
  • Read specifications and plans to accurately assess project requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) and preliminary labor/travel cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with the Design and Sales teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of project estimates.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during the pre-sales process.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, team members, and vendors.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prioritize customer service, ensuring client needs are met throughout the estimation process.
  • Apply prior experience with construction management to optimize project estimates.
  • Exhibit strong time management and self-management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to long-term employment and contribute to the growth of the company.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven AV systems design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (EE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) desired.
  • Experience with software tools like Visio, Excel, and Word.
  • AV installation experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and plans accurately.
  • Strong knowledge of preparing Bills of Materials (BOM) and preliminary labor/travel cost estimates.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and customer service skills.
  • Prior experience with construction management is a plus.
  • Demonstrated time management and self-management abilities.

Salary: $48,000 – $90,000 per year.
